Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on June 14, 1974.
The arms combine elements of the three former municipalities : the crown from Kronoby, the cross from Terjärv and the ploughshare from Nedervetil.
The previous arms were granted on February 15, 1955.
The arms show a canting crown (Kronan), which appeared on the oldest seal of the local parish, dating from 1607. In 1607 King Karl IX was crowned, and the new parish was named after the event.
