RASQUERA
Region : Catalonia
Province : Tarragona
Official blazon
Escut caironat: de gules, una carrasca d'or acompanyada de 2 creus de Malta una a cada costat del tronc. Per timbre una corona mural de poble.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 20, 1990.
These arms are canting: they show a "carrasca" (Catalan name for the kermes oak, or Quercus coccifera). The village has an Islamic origin, and was given to the Templars: it belonged to the command of Miravet, and since 1317 to the Hospitallers; that's symbolized by the two crosses of Malta at both sides.
