Arms of Vejle

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1938.

The arms date from the early 14th century and are based on the old seal of the city. The arms show the strategic position of the city between two hills with the bridge over the Vejle Å. The arms are actually anti canting, the name means ford, but the arms show a bridge.
