Escudo de Estamariu (Lleida)

Official blazon

Escut caironat: de sable, un lleó coronat d'or. Per timbre una corona mural de poble.

Origin/meaning

The arms have been officially granted on October 9, 1992.

The crowned lion Or on Sable is a traditional sign of the arms of the village. Estamariu belonged to the viscounty of Castellbò, named Castell-lleó until mid 11th century (probably the arms of the village are taken from the canting ones of Castell-lleó, literally in Catalan "castle-lion").
