MONTERREY
State : Nuevo León
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The origin of these arms goes back to the year of 1667 when Don Nicolás de Azcárraga, Knight of the Order of Santiago and Governor and Captain General of the New Kingdom of León, initiates the proceedings for a coat of arms to the City of Monterrey. The arms were granted by Queen Mariana of Austria, widow of Felipe IV, as tutor and governor, on behalf of her son King Carlos II on May 9, 1673.
The actual meaning of the arms is not known.
