AASKOV/ÅSKOV

Region : Midtjylland
Amt (until 2007) : Ringkøbing
Additions : 1970 Assing, Skarrild, Sønder Felding
Incorporated into : 2007 Herning

Arms of Åskov

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially registered in 1965 for Assing and in 1990 Aaskov.

When the new municipality wanted to continue the arms of Assing it was initially refused, due to similarity with the seal of the parliament of the Faroe Islands, but after some discussion the arms were approved twenty years (!) after the merger.

Literature: Achen, 1982; Zeuthen, 2000
