The traditional arms of the town show the double-headed eagle of the counts of Pallars (with the escutcheon with straws inside, that is canting: the straws are named "palles" in Catalan), because the local castle (11<sup>th</sup> century, shown too on the arms) belonged to this county, later marquisat.
