Different arms were shown in a manuscript with the cities of Flanders in 1562. The arms are canting showing a hare (haas) in trousers (broek) for the Dutch name Hazebroek which, however, has noting to do with trousers (broek means trousers, but here it means marshland). Different arms were shown in a manuscript with the cities of Flanders in 1562. The arms are canting showing a hare (haas) in trousers (broek) for the Dutch name Hazebroek which, however, has noting to do with trousers (broek means trousers, but here it means marshland). In a later armorial the arms of the Lords of Hazebrouck were shown as city arms (a bar made of diamonds).
