Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on April 3, 1986.
Gironella was the centre of a barony in the 14th century, that in 1702 became a marquisat (you can see the marquis crown at the top of the arms). The three pine-cones Vert on Or are the canting arms of the marquises, the Pinós family. The red saltire is the cross of St. Eulalia, the local patron saint.
