The arms were officially granted on January 22, 1974.
The chief shows three points, refering to the local mountains and the -Berg part of the name. The green colour refers to the forests on the mountains. The main part of the arms shows the steep mountains and the valley of the Brandenberger Tal with the wooden dam, the Brandenberger Triftklause.
