The arms were officially granted on January 24, 1983.

The mitre refers both to St. Nicholas, the local patron saint, as to the Kremsm:unster Abbey, to which the area historically belonged. The deer is taken from the arms of the Meurl family, owners of the medieval castle Rechberg in the municipality.

The wavy black flanks refer to the presence of oil in the municipality.

Literature :Baumert, H.E. :Oberösterreichische Gemeindewappen, Linz, 1996.
