The arms were officially granted on March 18, 1456 by the Bishop of Bamberg, to whom the area belonged at the time. The current arms were granted on December 10, 1942.

The upper half shows the arms of the [[Archdiocese of Bamberg|State of Bamberg]]. The lower half shows two crossed keys for St. Peter, the local patron saint.
Spaccato: nel primo d'oro al leone bicaudato di nero linguato di rosso, alla banda d'argento attraversante; nel secondo d'azzurro a due chiavi, decussate d'oro.
