Arms: Per fess wavy Azure and Or two Barrulets wavy Argent and Vert between in chief three Roses Argent barbed and seeded proper and in base an Estoile Sable.
Crest: On a Wreath of the Colours three Hills thereon between two Oak Trees fructed a Boar passant proper resting its dexter foreleg on a Rose Argent barbed and seeded proper.
Supporters: On the dexter a Cleveland Bay Horse and on the sinister a Ram both proper upon a Compartment comprising per pale Grass and Corn also proper.
Motto: 'United in progess'.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on ?

Of the various councils combined in 1974 to form Hambleton, only Northallerton had arms. The Hambleton arms continue the blue and gold colours of Northallerton UDC's arms. The white and green wavy barrulets represent the hills and rivers of the district. The white roses are the emblem of Yorkshire, while the Estoile is from the arms of Captain Cook, who was associated with the Stokesley area.

The crest has a wild boar astride three hills standing among oak trees. This represents Galtres Forest. The boar supports a Yorkshire rose.

The dexter supporter is a local breed of horse. This suggests horse racing, as well as the White Horse carved into the hillside at Kilburn. The sinister supporter is a ram for agriculture.
