Origin/meaning
The three circles indicate the Trinity. The center of the field is occupied by the Madonna with the child and the writing in Ethiopian characters:"The verb became flesh". Mary is represented as the mother of God and in an attitude of prayer, a figure of the praying church. The burning bush, in addition to remembering the figure of Moses, symbolizes the definitive revelation of God through the incarnation of the Son.
The oak on the left, typical of the Oromia landscape and present in the flag of the homonymous state, symbolizes fertility and peace:the elderly sit in its shade to discuss people's problems.
The crown is a symbol of holiness and good works, the typical Ethiopian cross and pastoral care indicate his position as a bishop in Ethiopia.
Below is the episcopal motto:"Lamp in my footsteps is your word, light in my path" (Ps 118.105).
