The arms were officially granted on June 29, 1964.

The Arms show a Soldier of the Carolinian Times, which is the motive in the Parish Seal. The Arms was designed by the City Architect Hans Schlyter, Sundsvall.
The uniform, sword and general appearance of the soldier is meant to correspond with that of a Swedish infantry Non Commanding Officer of the late seventeenth century. The motif is taken from a parochial seal of that time.
