===Origin/meaning===
The badge was created in 1922 and based on that of the 73rd Northumberland Regiment, one of The North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment’s predecessors. The stag, an animal native to northern New Brunswick, represents the fighting spirit of the regiment. The Motto translates as "Steadfast for the right".


The Blazon of the badge was confirmed by the Canadian Heraldic Authority on May 15, 2013.
