US ARMY DENTAL ACTIVITY FORT MONMOUTH
Official blazon
Distinctive Unit Insignia. Description: A device of silver color metal and enamel 1 3/16 inches (3.02cm) in height overall consisting of a silver cross formed of electronic flashes centered on a red Greek cross itself upon a white cross edged with maroon between two white scrolls on end and in perspective, all above and between a maroon scroll bearing the words "OUR RESPONSIBILITY" in silver letters.
Origin/meaning
Maroon and white (silver) are the colors associated with the U.S. Army Dental Corps. The scrolls reflect the continuing education required to maintain a high quality of dental service. The scarlet cross is a traditional symbol for medical care and alludes to the support provided by the DENTAC at Fort Monmouth. The electronic flashes at center refer to the U.S. Army CECOM, the major command located at Fort Monmouth.
The Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 12 November 1980.
