Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 7, 1987.
The vulture is to represent the family of Geier (vulture), owning lands locally in the Middle Ages. Präbach is a name of Slav origin, meaning "before the winds". So, in token of this, a greyhound was joined to the vulture above a base of clouds in order to properly symbolise the municipality, its name and its high location on a ridge of hills.
Agatha Geier was Prioress of the Graz monastery of Dominican nuns in the 15th century. The Dominicans are traditionally nicknamed "the hounds of the Lord".
