The ibex refers to a topographical name in the municipality. The patriarchal cross is a remembrance to [[Andreas Franz Frühwirth|Andreas Frühwirth]], Cardinal and Maior of the Church in the 19th century, who was born in St. Anna. In his arms he bore the Styrian panther, holding a patriarchal cross.
The arms were granted on October 15, 1952.
