Origin/meaning
Buff and Blue are the Colours of the Quartermaster Corps, alluding to the roots as a Quartermaster Battalion. The Cornucopia symbolises the supply function. The Column is indicative of service in North Africa and Italy during World War II. The Crest is in the Red, White and Green Colours of Italy, further symbolising World War II service in that Country. The Millrind refers to strength and support. The Key and Wheath symbolises traditional Quartermaster functions.
The arms were originally approved for the 1st Quartermaster Battalion on 26 March 1953. It was redesignated for the 501st Supply and Transport Battalion on 13 March 1962. It was again redesignated with symbolism amended for the 501st Support Battalion on 31 July 1987. The arms were amended to add a Crest on 1 May 1990.
