Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 22, 1938.

The base shows a pine tree on a mountain, which symbolises the local forests and mountains, as well as the importance of forestry for the municipality. The stars are taken from the arms of the Swiss canton of Wallis, as the original settlers in the area originated from Wallis.

Literature: Burmeister, 1975
