History: First formed in 1944 at Royal Naval Air Station Burscough (HMS Ringtail), Ormskirk as a Dutch-manned Fighter Squadron Equipped with Grumman Hellcats. Served in the Far East and disbanded into No 1839 Squadron in 1945. Reformed as an Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve Squadron in 1951 and disbanded in 1957.
