Spanish | La forma de la mesma ciudad e fortaleza de Gibralfaro con el corral de los captivos en campo colorado; e por reverencia de los bienaventurados dos mártires, San Ciriaco e Santa Paula, que en dicha ciudad fueron martirizados, mandamos poner su imagen de cada uno de ellos en par en las Torres de Gibralfaro; e por la onrra del puerto, le damos las ondas de la mar; e por orladura de las dichas armas, nuestras divisas que es el Yugo y las Flechas (Real Cédula firmada por los Reyes Católicos y fechada en Segovia el 30 de agosto de 1494). Esmaltes: La ciudad y Gibralfaro, colorados; las ondas, plateadas en campo azul; el corral, encarnado; los presos y cautivos, sombreados en blanco y negro; la orladura, dorada en campo mitad verde y mitad púrpura; y los patronos con resplandores de oro, manto azul y túnica dorada, así como el sobrecuello de Sta. Paula. Incluye los lemas otorgados por varios monarcas: Siempre denodada, la primera en el peligro de la libertad, muy hospitalaria, muy benéfica, muy noble y muy leal ciudad de Málaga y Tanto monta. Sobre la corona real abierta está situada la corona cívica. |

The arms were officially granted on August 21, 1843.
The arms show the city and its patron Saints, St. Cyrianus and St. Paula. The bordure shows the badges of the Spanish Kings.
Besides these there have been two different arms for Malaga in the last decades.
