DIOCESE OF PENSACOLA-TALLAHASSEE (Dioecesis Pensacolensis–Tallahassiensis)
Country: United States
Denomination: Roman Catholic
Established: 1975
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The upper part honors the city of Pensacola. The golden cross on red stands for Faith. On the silver plate there is a Sacred Heart, to honour the titular of the Cathedral. The silver airplane-propeller denotes that Pensacola is principally known for the largest aviation training school for the US Navy in the world.
The lower half symbolizes Talahassee. The red saltire on argent comes from the State flag of Florida, of which Talahassee is the capital. The three black moorcocks honor the titular of the co-cathedral of Talahassee, Saint-Thomas More, and the black login cabin in the top signifies that the word Talahassee means ´Old Town´.
