Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 15, 1946.

The arms show the three (grave)hills in Gamla Uppsala and the local patron saint St. Erik, whose relics were kept in Gamla Uppsala until 1273 when they were moved to Uppsala. The colours are those of Uppland.
