ALTSTÄTTEN
Canton: Sankt Gallen
Official blazon
In Gold schreitender, rot bewehrter schwarzer Bär, überhöht von 5 strahligem rotem Stern.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on May 26, 1946.
The arms have been used since at least 1473, as they appear on a document from that year. The bear is taken from the arms of the St. Gallen Abbey and is the symbol of St. Gallus.
