The pilot's wheel symbolises the Battalion's mission of providing command staff direction to attached units. The rope alludes to terminal service facilities for loading and unloading and for the transshipment of cargo and personnel. The Wavy band is from the Arms of the Rhineland and symbolises the Campaigns of World War II. The Crest The points of the polestar commemorate the unit's four decorations, Red för the Meritorious Unit Commendation. Blue, White and gold are the colours of the Joint Meritorious Award. The Blue annulet alludes to a Globe and thus the Worldwide mission of the Battalion. The Sword and Scimitar symbolises World War II and Southwest Asia service. Vietnam War service is symbolised by the Palm Branches.
