JOHN ALOYSIUS DUFFY
Born: October 29, 1884
Deceased: September 27, 1944
Bishop of Syracuse, 1933 - 1937
Bishop of Buffalo, 1937 - 1944
Bishop of Syracuse |
Bishop of Buffalo |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
As common in US episcopal heraldry, the arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.
The personal arms are taken from the arms of an (unrelated) Duffy family from England as a symbol for the bishop.
The achievement is completed with the heraldic insignia of a prelate of the rank of bishop.
