JEAN-MARIE ANTOINE JOSEPH SPEICH

Born: June 15, 1955
Deceased:

Titular Archbishop of Sulci, 2013-present
Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, 2013-2019
Apostolic Nuncio to Slovenia, 2019-present

Arms (crest) of Jean-Marie Antoine Joseph Speich
Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms are family arms going back to 1241/42 for the Speich family. The arms are based on following the calls of Pope Gregorius IX and Emperor Frederick II to participate at the crusade against the Mongols before Vienna, Austria (1241). The colours of silver and gold are the colours of the Catholic church (now the colours of the Vatican) and the cross (crusaders) conquers the moon (Mongols).

The mounds in base symbolize the Sernft valley (Glarus canton, Switzerland), home of the Speich family in the 10th to 13th centuries.
