Administrative division
Venezuela is divided into 23 states, a capital district corresponding to the city of Caracas, and the Federal Dependencies. Venezuela is further subdivided into 335 municipalities; these are subdivided into over one thousand parishes. The states are grouped into nine administrative regions.
Heraldry
Only very few states and municipalities use truly heraldic coats of arms. Most use some kind of emblem or logo (often incorrectly referred to as coats of arms). In several cases these emblems have been added to this site.
