Bielawa (Langenbielau) has been known since the 13<sup>th</sup> century as a huge foot-hill village, typical for the area, stretched along a mountain spring for many kilometers. In the later centuries weaver's craft developed, which finally resulted in urbanization of the village in the 19<sup>th</sup> century as a textile industry centre.
