DEBALTSEVE (Дебальцеве)
Region (Oblast) : Donetsk
Ukrainian | |
English |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on February 25, 1998.
The red symbolises courage and metal, and thus the metal industry in the town. Green is the colour of agriculture and abundance. Black symbolises coal and mining. The sun is the symbol of hope. The base shows a winged wheel, symbol for railways, as the town is the largest railway junction in the Ukraine.
The previous arms were adopted in 1978.
