District : Braunau am Inn

Arms of Lochen

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 2, 1971.

The arms are based on the arms of the Lords of Tannberg, who, as vassals of the Bishops of Passau, had their castle in the municipality. Their arms showed a pine tree on a mountain (Tanne=pine tree, Berg=mountain). The municipal arms show the same outline, but no longer a proper pine tree. The colours were also changed from silver and red to silver and green.
