Arms of Timișoara

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The lion crossing a bridge is the arms of the Banat Region used during the Monarchy. The red flag with a silver cross is the flag of Savoy, as used by Eugene of Savoy - the man who liberated Timișoara from the Turks; the second flag is Romania's flag with a hole in it, as used by the people who started the Romanian Revolution of 1989, in Timișoara.

The base shows a heraldic representation of the City of Timișoara.
