Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Austria - Österreichische Gemeindewappen |
GROSSRAMING
State : Oberösterreich
District : Steyr-Land
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on March 2, 1970.
The lion is taken from the arms of Johan Egger van Maarbach, mayor of Steyr in the 17th century. He owned several industries in the municipality and 1n 1631 acquired a large piece of land in the village for mining activities. He has thus been of great importance for the illage.
The crosier is the symbol for the abbey in Garsten, to which the village belonged.
Literature : Baumert, H.E. : Oberösterreichische Gemeindewappen, Linz, 1996.
