SIMO
Region : Lapland
Former province : Lapland
Official blazon
Sinisessä kentässä neljä hopeista lohenpyrstöä asetettuina ristin tapaan.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 27, 1957.
The four salmon tails symbolise the importance of salmon fishing in the Simo river. The cross shape indicates that the Bishops of Uppsala had a longtime influence in the area, as is known from a document from 1346.
