The three streams form the 'living water' taken from Joh. 7:36. Living water flows from the bottom to the top, namely as a 'source' and carries the vitality and love of the faith upwards, so that the people of the diocese can adopt these. The three water flows determine the number of hearts at the top of three. The silver of the water stands for purity, the green stands for service: the bishop wants to humbly convey pure faith. Furthermore, green is the color of budding life and stands for the active role, which mgr. De Jong fulfills in the pro-life movement. Green and white represent the house colors of the Association for the Protection of the Unborn Child.

Origin/meaning

The arms express the specific task of Auxiliary Bishop De Jong: revitalization, transfer of faith and promotion of the culture of life, all in a humble and helpful manner. The triple heart below in the shield symbolises Mgr. De Jong (smallest heart) in his devotions to the H.H. Hearts of Jesus and Mary (bigger hearts).
The hearts in chief are the believers of the diocese of Roermond. Gold stands for listening / vitality of the faith and red is the color of love.

The motto is - slightly adjusted - taken from John 10:10.
