Origin/meaning

Lož reveived city rights and a coat of arms and seal on March 8, 1477. The document is still in possession of the local museum. The blazon from 1477 mentions 'sobl' (sable, black) as shield colour, but the arms have always been shown in blue.

Saint George, the local patron saint, is shown killing a dragon to save a virgin. The arms never changed and are still used by Loška Dolina.
