Origin/meaning
The meaning of these arms is based on a local legend. It is said that during Middle Ages an invading Muslim army surrounded the city and began a siege. The chief of the Muslims thought that Talaverans were starving after many weeks of siege and prepared a banquet to demonstrate that they were not starving. Subsequently the people of Talavera sent him two bulls (not cows but bulls) just in case the Muslims had not meat enough to feed all attendants to banquet.
A variation of this legend says that during the siege the defenders used two wild bulls to attack the Muslim camp.
