Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on December 15, 2020.

The beech tree symbolises the forests in the area and specifically a specific beech, which was estimated to be around 270 years old in 2020. The second quarter shows the arms of the Franche-Comté region in which the municipality is situated.

The third quarter shows the arms of the Grammont family, lords of both villages in the 15th century. On top is placed a sword, a symbol for St. Martin of Tours, the patron saint of the parish of Marchaux.

The fourth quarter symbolises the many fountains in the municipality.
