Origin/meaning

These arms have been officially granted on 31st January 1983.

The Tau cross and the bell are the attributes of St. Anthony, the local patron saint. The village show the arms of Barcelona (a cross Gules on Argent and the royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon, four pales Gules on Or), because Vilamajor (the traditional name of the village) was a "street of Barcelona" (a village with the same rights and privileges as the capital city), being part, until mid 19th century, of Sant Pere de Vilamajor, a royal council, where the counts of Barcelona had a residential palace.
