Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted in 1989.
The wavy bend denotes the Essonne river. The upper part symbolises the Nuclear Research carried out in the area. The fleur-de-lys is from the arms of Île-de-France.
In the 1980s Robert Louis had proposed the following arms:br>
These arms show the fleur-de-lys of Île-de-France and the wave indicates the confluence of the rivers Essonne and Seine.
