Origin/meaning
The arms of Cappel were granted in 1962 and were based on the water-mill which was built by the Teutonic Knights in the early Middle Ages. The Teutonic Knights had one of its major settlements in Marburg in 1234. The mill was first mentioned in 1299, but probably built earlier. It still exists. The waves symbolise the river Lahn, which flows through the municipality.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
