Origin/meaning

The crosier represents the Priory of Prades de Salars, which was part of the Conques Abbey. The Agnus Dei is the symbol of St. John Baptist, the local patron saint.

The green field, sheep, cow and silver ball, all refer to the rich pastures and the locally made sheep- and cow's cheeses. The base represents the Cadousse and Bage rivers as well as Lake Pareloup.

The red and gold colours are taken from the arms of the Counts of Rodez, to whom the village historically belonged.
