Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 24, 1937.

The arms show in the first quarter the quartered arms of Querfurt and Mansfeld. The counts of Mansfeld of the Querfurt family used as arms quartered Querfurt and Mansfeld. The second quarter represents the iron industry, which has been of importance in the area for centuries. The tree represents the many woods in the area.
