State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
Additions : 1932 Geilenkirchen, Heinsberg (old)
Incorporated into : 1972 Heinsberg
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on March 1, 1950.
The arms show the lion of Jülich in the first quarter, which is taken from the arms of the city Geilenkirchen. The parrot is also taken to represent Geilenkirchen as the parrot was part of the arms granted by count Wilhelm of Jülich to the city in 1556. The silver lion is the arms of the counts and city of Heinsberg.
