Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Austria - Österreichische Gemeindewappen |
RATSCHENDORF
State : Steiermark
District : Bad Radkersburg
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on October 13, 1954.
The arms consist of two family arms. To the dexter, the arms of the von Walsee family appear, to the sinister the arms of the von Graben family. In the Middle Ages, both of these families were rather powerful and had possessions in all of Southern and Eastern Styria. The von Graben arms are canting, displaying a shovel or spade (graben = to dig).
