SANKT MAREIN BEI NEUMARKT
State : Steiermark
District : Murau
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on April 28, 1986.
St Marein lies near the Neumarkter Sattel, an important mountain pass. The Romans built a highroad across the mountains and settled there. The main charge is an acanthus taken from a find of Roman masonry. The fleur-de-lis is a reference to Our Lady (St. Marein is a dialect form of St. Maria).
