KLEVE

State : Schleswig-Holstein
District (Kreis) : Dithmarschen
Amt : Amt Kirchspielslandgemeinde Eider (until 2008 Amt Kirchspielslandgemeinde Hennstedt)

Wappen von Kleve (Dithmarschen)/Arms (crest) of Kleve (Dithmarschen)
Official blazon
German Von Rot und Silber durch abgerundete linke Schrägstufe geteilt. Oben ein steigendes silbernes Pferd, unten zwei blaue Wellenbalken.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 20, 2004.

The name Kleve is derived from the older Kleef, meaning cliff. This is represented by the division line of the shield. The division also represents the fact that the village is situated on the border of the (higher) Dithmarscher Geest and the lower Eider valley.

The two wavy bars symbolise the Eider and the Brocklandsau, which run through the municipality. The horse symbolise the importance of horse breeding and riding in the area. The colours are those of the State as well as the Dithmarschen district.
