History: Raised at Andover in September 1917.
Official blazon
Badge: a battle-axe Or hafted vert.
Motto: Fortis in proeliis = Valiant in battle
Origin/meaning
The Battle-Axe was chosen as beeing an old and powerful weapon. It also allude to the Fairey Battle Aircraft once flown by the Squadron. The Green shaft alludes to the Squadron longtime service in Ireland. The badge was approved in January 1938.
